Noreen Dertinger -

Noreen Dertinger, M. Mus, CBIS, works in software engineering. During the summer months she spends as much time as possible at a solar powered cottage at Kennebec Lake. Kayaking and music are her pastimes. Concerned about preserving the natural environment, she has organized exhibits and talks about area reptiles and amphibians. Noreen maintains the FSR website.

JOHN DUCHENE -

John has spent most of his career working in municipal and conservation authority administration. With an academic background in geography and landscape architecture, John appreciates the diverse natural and cultural environments that define the Salmon River watershed. He lives on Kennebec Lake (12-year resident) and is a member of the Kennebec Lake Association Executive Committee. John is currently employed as CAO/Clerk for the Township of Central Frontenac.

ED FILE -

Ed is a retired York University social science professor and lifelong social justice activist.  Since 1991 he has lived in Lonsdale on an island in the Salmon River.  From 1999 he fought to successfully stop the expansion of the Richmond dump and is now seeking to close it to preserve the surrounding environment.

Dave Johnson -

Dave Johnson has cottaged for many years on Horseshoe Lake. Where he is Lake Steward. He is a physical geographer working on groundwater issues related to transportation. He is passionate about maintaining high water quality for the future.

Digger MacDougall -

Digger MacDougall has cottaged on Sheffield Long Lake for many years. He has advanced training in counselling psychology and extensive national and international experience in consulting and training in that field. He also has much experience in funding and organizing volunteer organizations. Barbershop Harmony is close to his heart.

GRAY MERRIAM -

Gray Merriam was one of the founders of the Frontenac Environmental Partnership and is on the Board of FEP. He is the founding President of the Friends of the Salmon River. Gray recently retired from 40 years of ecological research and graduate teaching. His specialty was how ecological processes work at the large, landscape scale. He hopes to apply what he learned in safeguarding our exceptional natural wealth through stewardship by the public. Gray is president of FSR.

SUSAN MOORE –

Susan lives on a solar-powered hobby farm north of Tamworth in the Salmon River watershed. She is an environmental advocate and supporter of Buy Locally (and show up with your own bags!) She also works with the Lennox & Addington Stewardship Council. Susan is our publicity coordinator.

Jim Quinn -

Jim Quinn is an electrical engineer living on the banks of the Salmon in Tamworth. He has a long-standing interest in conservation and sustainability. Jim volunteers with the Stone Mills Fire Department.

NATHALIE SORENSEN -

Nathalie Sorensen is a retired Community College professor of English who now spends her time working for small local environmental and peace organizations, reading, writing poetry, pursuing photography, and growing vegetables and flowers from seed.  She lives in Kingston but spends most weekends at their country retreat and managed forest on the Salmon River near Tamworth where she and her husband have planted thousands of native seedlings. Nathalie is a founding member of FSR and our treasurer and membership secretary.
